What the ACLS Provider Course Covers
ACLS, or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, is the American Heart Association course for providers who lead resuscitation. It covers ECG and rhythm recognition, airway management, medications, and the cardiac arrest and post-arrest algorithms, building on high-quality BLS.

What is ACLS?

What’s the difference between ACLS Initial and ACLS Renewal?
Initial is the full provider course (12 hours) for first-time providers or expired AHA course completion cards. Renewal (6 hours) is for providers with a current AHA ACLS course completion card. Both result in a two-year AHA course completion card.
Do I need a BLS AHA course completion card before taking ACLS?
A current AHA BLS course completion card is recommended, since ACLS builds on high-quality BLS.
